~Being a female is a matter of birth...
Being a woman is a matter of age...
Being a lady is a matter of choice~
Greetings! Welcome to my world! I'm known in Cyberspace
as NubianSong. Originally from Philadelphia, PA., I relocated to Corpus Christi,
Texas in December of 1989. God's greatest
and most precious gift to me has been two very exceptional young women I
am very proud,
very
blessed
to be able to call my daughters. Cynthia, the oldest
is a graduate of Widener University. She received
her Bachelor of Science in Nursing on May 22, 1999 and works as a Clinical Instructor at a Philadelphia Hospital. My youngest daughter Carolyn is a graduate of Temple University. After a remarkable career of 24 years service to her Country, she is now a Retired United State Navy Commander.
I enjoy the simple things in life..candlelite dinners, a moonlight stroll,
cuddling up with a nice glass of wine to watch a good movie or listen to
a mellow CD, watching the raindrops fall against a windowpane and enjoying
the fresh scent that it brings. I make every effort to live my life to the
fullest realizing that tomorrow isn't promised to any of us.
I refuse
to be discouraged because I know that I can do all things through
Christ who strengthens me. I am
a very strong and independent
phenomenal
black
woman, deeply proud of my heritage. Hopeless romantic that I am,
I allow myself to believe that very special man..the one who would eventually
share my little corner of the world will surface one of these days. When
he does, 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 will forever be a part of what we share. Any
relationship that's going to last requires compromise on both parts.
I enjoy reading, writing, working out, traveling....
especially on a cruise ship or to the Caribbean...watching a good
football or
basketball game. I'm forever loyal to my hometown football team,
the
Philadelphia
Eagles. I love kicking back with
some good music...the oldies,
gospel, and mellow sounds. The music I'm feeling right now would
be something by
The Late Great Otis Redding
or
Shirley
Caesar. For good reading, I recommend
the
Bible.
"When you were born you cried and those around you smiled, so live your life that when you die those around you will cry and you will smile."
Love is very patient and kind,
Never jealous or envious, Never boastful or proud,
Never haughty or selfish or rude.
Love does not demand its own way.
It is not irritable or touchy.
It does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice
when others do it wrong.
It is never glad about injustice,
but rejoices whenever truth wins out.
If you love someone,
you will be loyal to him no matter what the cost.
You will always believe in him,
Always expect the best of him,
And always stand your ground in defending him.
All the special gifts and powers from God
Will someday come to an end,
But love goes on
forever.

13:4-8~

~The Bed of Life~
The day will come when my body will lie upon a white sheet tucked neatly under the four corners of a mattress, located in a hospital busily occupied with the living and the dying. At a certain moment, a doctor will determine that my brain has ceased to function, and that for all intents and purposes, my life has stopped. When that happens, do not attempt to install artificial life into my body by the use of a machine, and don't call this my death bed. Let it be called "The Bed of Life", and let my body be taken from it to help others lead fuller lives.
Give my sight to the man who has never seen a sunrise, a baby's face or love in the eyes of a woman. Give my heart to the person who has nothing but endless days of pain. Give my blood to the teen-agers who was pulled from the wreckage of his car so that he may live to see his grandchildren play. Give my kidneys to a person who depends upon a machine to exist from week to week. Take my bones, every muscle fiber, every nerve and try to find a way to make a crippled child walk. Explore every corner of my brain, take my cells, if necessary, and let them grow so that someday a speechless boy will shout at the crack of a bat, or a deaf girl will hear the sound of rain against her window. Burn the rest and scatter the ashes to the wind to help the flowers grow. If you must bury something, bury my faults and my weaknesses. Give my sins to the devil, give my soul to God.
If by chance you wish to remember me, do it with a kind deed or a word to someone who needs you. If you do all that I have asked, I will live forever.~

An angel's touch can dry a tear.

A great tragedy lies in our lack of knowledge
on this subject. The fact that there was a time when there were no black
Marines should not be forgotten.
